The SEC Championship is one of the most anticipated games of the year and this season features a phenomenal matchup. The Georgia Bulldogs are one of two undefeated teams left in the nation and are currently locked into the No. 1 spot in the AP poll. Alabama is 11-1 and ranked third.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are the reigning SEC Champions but are 6.5 point underdogs in the days leading up to the game. The odds have remained steady since opening on Saturday night. The last time these two teams met for the SEC title the Crimson Tide won 35-28 back in 2018.

This game has a lot more than the SEC title hanging in the balance. The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs are currently CFP teams but a loss might ruin that dream for one of these teams. Then again, it might not. It really depends on who loses, how badly, and how other games pan out.

Georgia vs. Alabama Prediction and Pick

There is no doubt that Georgia is the better team on paper, on the stat sheet, and in the standings. There is also no doubt that sometimes the better team loses. And while I don’t believe that will happen this weekend, I do think this game comes down to the wire.

So many people are ignoring how good Nick Saban is at coaching his team in high-pressure situations such as this. Sure, that was not the case in last week’s Iron Bowl, but the Crimson Tide did manage to win at the end of the day. If only just.

The Crimson Tide’s offense, led by Bryce Young, certainly has the tools to strike fast and hard against any defense. Even one as dominating as the Bulldogs’. And if they manage to get out to an early lead, then watch out. If the Bulldogs are down in this game they will have to rely on Stetson Bennett to be the hero. This is not a role he is accustomed to because the Georgia defense is just so good.

Even if Alabama loses, they are going to have Georgia on their heels and fighting for their lives until the final whistle. What makes this game even that much more interesting is that the two could conceivably meet again in the playoffs.

Pick: Alabama Crimson Tide +6.5 (-110)
