Alabama football didn’t win a national title in 2018 and to them that is a failure. However, should they be feeling optimistic about 2019?

Alabama cruised through the majority of the season, but they were blindsided in the SEC Championship nearly losing to Georgia and then in the National Championship by Clemson where they were absolutely throttled.

However, the fun isn’t over for Alabama fans by a long shot. Yes, they didn’t win the National Championship, a category in which they are in double digits, but they are prepared to make a run for one in 2019.

Why should Alabama fans be optimistic about a 2019 run?

5. Depth is a big deal and Alabama has it

Much of Alabama’s talent is graduating, or is it? This team has 47 players on active NFL rosters. Those kind of numbers are insane, but the question is how do they have numbers like that and continue to not miss a beat year after year? The answer? Depth.

Running back Damien Harris is heading out to the NFL Draft. Najee Harris is just as good and ready to take the reins from Harris and his counterpart Josh Jacobs who made the Alabama rushing attack what it was. Both Alabama’s tight ends are heading to the Draft, but there are five guys ready to fill that hole. Jonah Williams is heading to the NFL, one of the best offensive lineman Alabama has seen in awhile- but there are so many other options I am sure the line won’t skip a beat.

That is just the offense. The defense is much the same — full of open holes ready to be filled by young players who have just as much talent as the guys heading out of town do. Just go look at all the mock depth charts around the internet. This team is prepared for the 2019 season due to depth, depth and more depth.
