It was a productive spring for Alabama football, with several positions of need developing quality depth. Here are five players who have seen their stock rise.

The brief reprieve of the college football offseason is now over as Alabama Football’s annual A-Day game came and went on Saturday. With it brought the conclusion of spring practice in Tuscaloosa, and the final opportunity to see live, albeit mostly sloppy, football until the Crimson Tide opens the season in Atlanta against Duke on Aug. 31.

It was a spring of uncertainty for Alabama. To be sure, it wasn’t the first time Alabama looked to flip the page to a new season on the heels of a heartbreaking defeat to finish the season, but it was the first time the team had ever looked like that on the biggest stage.

The 28 point loss to Clemson with the national title on the line was the biggest loss of the Nick Saban era at Alabama by two whole touchdowns. Following the defeat, for the second straight offseason Alabama experienced a massive coaching overhaul.

The loss to Clemson raised some legitimate questions, particularly on the defensive side of the ball where Alabama didn’t play up to the standard that built a dynasty. With a program-high seven underclassmen declaring for the draft, Saban was left with some holes to fill on the roster.

Even after securing the No. 1 recruiting class yet again, questions about depth at certain spots on the roster were particularly concerning. This led to some experimental position changes throughout the spring, and Saban opining about the lack of depth at key positions in nearly every press conference.

Saban is a master motivator, and he used the media to challenge some of the young players on the roster to take the necessary strides so that they could contribute in 2019. From that regard, the spring has to be considered mostly a massive success if the A-Day game was any indication.

Several players seem to have taken some significant strides during spring practice. If they can continue to grow and take similar strides throughout the summer and fall, then Alabama’s depth issues may not be as much of a concern as anticipated.

Here are five players who are trending up after spring practice.
