Ahead of the National Championship Game, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young received some advice from former teammate Mac Jones.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are in position to win their second consecutive CFP National Championship this Monday, thanks to the season-long play by quarterback Bryce Young. The sophomore’s play not only helped him win the Heisman but helped clinch the No. 1 seed with an SEC Championship Game victory.

With the big game against the Georgia Bulldogs just days away, Young revealed that he received a message from former teammate and current New England Patriots signal caller Mac Jones.

“I’ve heard from, I talked to Mac not too long ago, a couple days ago,” Young said on Saturday, via Touchdown Alabama Magazine. “And him just telling me to keep going to the finish, to lock in, just to make sure that we finish everything off right. And to hear from Mac really on a regular basis, just to have that respect from the other guys in the past, for me that means a lot.”

Bryce Young reveals Mac Jones gave him advice ahead of National Championship Game

Jones was the starting signal-caller for the Crimson Tide last year, where they went undefeated and hoist the CFP National Championship trophy. In the big game, Jones completed 36-of-45 of his passes for 464 yards and five touchdowns in the 52-24 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Young was Jones’ backup last year and watched firsthand what it takes to win the National Championship. If this season has shown anything, it is that he can play at a high level when the lights shine brightest. Not only that, but he knows what it takes to beat Georgia.

In the SEC Championship Game, Young torched the then-undefeated Bulldogs for 421 passing yards and three touchdowns while completing 26-of-44 pass attempts. Young also ran for 40 yards and a touchdown on three carries in the 41-24 win.

Young will look to be the latest Alabama quarterback to lead the Crimson Tide to another national title on Monday night.
