Chicago Bears: 6 Dream replacements for Ryan Pace

Welp, the Chicago Bears look to be falling from their 2018 grace. Matt Nagy came in and changed the culture of this team. It was fun and one of the best seasons I have seen as a Bears fan. The defense was elite and the offense was just good enough to allow them the opportunity to win every game they played. They were truly a Super Bowl contender that year despite the double-doink versus the Eagles.

Matt Nagy walked away from that season with Coach of the Year honors and Ryan Pace was considered Executive of the Year. Now, two years later, we are talking about how both are on the hot seat and should be run out of town. We are talking about how Nagy does not do enough as a coach (or he does too much) and how Pace has missed on too many key components — namely Mitch Trubisky at quarterback.

Honestly, the Trubisky pick is not what bothers me the most. Pace’s lack of emphasis on the outside corners of the offensive line was a bigger issue to me. Not investing enough draft capital in the offensive line and overpaying a seventh-round pick to man the left tackle position screams disappointment. Pace hit on some key players like Eddie Jackson, but the botches at quarterback and offensive line are why he is possibly on his way out.

If you go back and look at my social media, I never thought it would be possible for Nagy and Pace to not finish out the last year of their contract. At this point, I am no longer confident that will be the case. It seems to me that both could very well be on their way out after the 2020 season unless somehow this team transforms over the last five weeks and pushes its way into the playoffs. This is something I am not confident will truly happen.
