Alabama football’s case for best team in the country in 2019

Alabama football is certainly one of the two best teams in the country. When it’s all said and done, will they finish on top or as runner-up again?

Alabama football has been at odds against Clemson for the past four seasons. Every year, one team gets the pleasure of ending the other’s season. This past year, Clemson ended Alabama’s in the National Championship game. However, that doesn’t necessarily make Clemson the best team in the country.

In the offseason, there will be a lot of speculation as to which team is better than the other. I don’t think the answer is clear, but Alabama has the right to be in the conversation. People will instinctively give the nod to the Tigers because of last season, but it’s not that simple. Clemson lost a lot of talent on the defense, and it is incredibly hard to repeat as National Champions.

Nick Saban will be determined to come back with a stronger team this season. He has a new coaching staff, and they will be in charge of guiding the players to get to the basics of Alabama football. They will pay attention to detail, give it all every possession, and avoid the mental mistakes.

Offensively, look for a healthy Tua Tagovailoa to right the ship and have another Heisman campaign. I’d also expect Najee Harris to grow in his role as the starting running back. Defensively, Dylan Moses will be a stud at linebacker. You also have some players coming back from injury, so that will help with the depth situation at key positions for the Tide. If Alabama can stay healthy, they will be scary.

Again, both Clemson and Alabama are incredibly good. It’s a safe bet to say that one of these two teams will win it all in 2019. You could probably flip a coin and decide who is the best team in the country, but here are some reasons why Alabama might be the right call.
